Hamburg, August 2008 - Rollei presents its new Rollei X-8 Compact right on time for the IFA. This attractive entry-level camera from the Compact series is available in white, pink and black, and brings colour into the daily routine. The compact camera with 8 megapixel resolution enlarges using the 3-fold optical Rollei Apogon zoom and is equipped with a 2.7″ colour TFT display. The Rollei X-8 Compact has more than 23 motif programmes and a large number of special functions, such as 'smile detection'.
 
Combining colourful design with versatile functions, the Rollei X-8 Compact is above all the ideal camera for newcomers to photography. The slim case measures 90.7 mm x 55.95 mm x 21.8 mm (WxHxD) and weighs only 115 g. The compact camera is available in the trendy colours white, pink and black, making the Rollei X-8 Compact an attractive accessory for every occasion. The 1 / 2.5″ CCD sensor shoots pin sharp 8 megapixel photos and takes videos in full audio and video quality with 640 x 480 pixels, which can be marvelled at thanks to the built-in stereo loudspeaker.  No matter whether you are taking photos at sunrise, in candlelight or of sport events on the beach: 23 motif programmes help you find the optimum setting for every situation. The bright 2.7″ colour TFT display offers complete motif control with its 230,000 pixels.
 
Furthermore, motion can be impressively captured with 3 pictures per second, thanks to the series picture function. To reduce blurred photos, the 'anti-shake function' compensates for any vibrations that occur when taking photographs. For portrait shots, the 'face detection' function focuses on one or more faces extremely quickly and ensures optimum light exposure. And to make sure no smile goes missing, the 'smile detection' feature can be used.
 
The Rollei X-8 Compact is available in the shops from the beginning of October. The accessories include the image editing software, 'PhotoStudio 9', from Zoner. Stylish camera bags are also available in the appropriate colour to match your Rollei X-8 Compact camera.
