Rollei X-8 Sports firmware update available now

Hamburg, January 2009 – RCP-Technik has released the firmware version 1.1 for the Rollei X-8 Sports. The firmware improves fine tuning of different motif programmes like ‘snow’ or ‘underwater’ and optimizes the picture quality. Furthermore the update enables to save user settings after turning off. The firmware was made available for free download under . Besides the firmware update the exterieur of the camera enjoys a new look: the body is available in bi-colour style silver and orange with immediate effect. The Rollei X-8 Sports is waterproof up to 10 metres under water, frost-proof at temperatures of up to minus 5 degrees and can survive falls from a height of 1 metre without any damage. The light aluminium casing in bicolour look (black/orange, silver/orange) is an eye-catcher, thanks to its simple and compact form. Rubber strips on the side of the camera allow for a firm grip, even in extreme situations – such as when rafting, canyoning or mountain climbing. Thanks to its slim dimensions of only 95 x 59.5 x 20.5 mm, the outdoor camera fits into virtually any jacket pocket. The 8-megapixel sensor produces rich images, which is ideal for producing high quality DIN A4 prints or enlarging details on the PC. The Rollei outdoor camera is quite easy-to-use, even without a user manual, thanks to its intuitive menu. 24 motif programmes are available to choose from, such as underwater, sport or night-shot mode, ensuring the most suitable setting can always be found. And the electronic image stabiliser enables you to take even sharper, shake-free outdoor action photos. Especially joyful moments can be captured with the help of the Rollei X-8 Sports' 'smile detection' function, which automatically detects and focuses on smiling faces. Another useful feature is the 'coupling shot', which combines two photos into one picture: the summit photo could, for example, be extended afterwards to include missing people. The panorama function is also available, which can be used for capturing large panoramas (even 360-degree-photos can be taken easily using this feature). The Rollei X-8 Sports is available now in specialist retailers and stores in the bicolour look black/orange and silver/orange. The software package 'Zoner PhotoStudio 9 Express' is included. RRP: 199,95 Euros  - Approved for publication -  Technical specifications subject to change (01/2009) About Rollei Cameras which are simple to use and function superbly – Rollei's history began in a Braunschweig workshop in 1920 under this motto.
